Cablevision installs internet service in public places

They already launched the program “Metro Wi Fi” at Polanco, which covers almost all the area so that their clients can use the Internet with their mobile devices

As of 2011, Cablevision (Cable) will offer prepaid wireless Internet Service in order to use it at public open spaces in Mexico City.

Guillermo Salcedo, marketing manager of the company explained, to the journal Milenio that the users may or may not be subscribers to the service.

The company means to reach a 100% coverage of their internet service within Mexico City at a 10 mega bytes per second speed.

One of the pilot programs towards this goal is “Metro Wi Fi” at Polanco, which covers almost all the area so that their clients can use the Internet with their mobile devices.

“The pilot program will be in observation the next six months and in case we decided to develop it further, it might be available in other areas of the city by next year” assured Mr. Salcedo.

“Metro Wi Fi” has no additional cost for customers, although there might be a charge if you are not a Cablevision subscriber and it might sell it per hour, per day, per week, or per year with a pre payment system. (El Semanario Agencia, ESA)
