Infonavit has already granted 86,817 mortgage credits

Almost the two-third parties of mortgages were granted to those workers earning less than four minimum wages

National Workers" Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit) announced that from January 1 to march 21 of this year established a total of 86,817 mortgage credits to right-holders, from which almost the two-third parties were granted to those workers earning less than four minimum wages. According to statistics, the institute had already covered the 18.3% of the annual target, amount located below the 22.5% expected.

Infonavit informed that until march 21 of this year they have granted 86,817 credits, which represent a reduction of 27,530 billion pesos for the country.

With the 86,817 assigned credits, Infonavit covered the 18.3% of the target authorized by the General Assembly (integrated by the federal government, employers and employees) by granting 475,000 mortgages.

In a statement, the institute assured that so far 26,865 workers have the authorized resources in order to make use of their loans over the next few weeks.

They also explained that during the first two months of the year, (without considering the resources obtained by the placement of securities in financial markets) the total incomes of the institute reached 17,491 billion pesos, amount that represents a payroll increase of 3.4%.

Although, one of the goals of Infonavit for this year was to maintain its impaired loans below 5%, the institution informed that in february 2009 this index was of 5.47%.

Infonavit assured that despite the growth registered, the rate “has been kept under control and with the established international standards”. (El Semanario Agencia, ESA)
