Tourism in Mexico rise 8.6% in Holy Week

Merida and Morelia achieved the best recovery with 77.2% and 64.5%, respectively

During Holy Week 2010, the hotel occupancy rate of the 12 main tourist destinations of the country registered a rise of 8.6% in relation with the same period a year ago, informed the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur).

These amounts comprise the period from March 29 to April 4, where occupancy rate climb from 72.9% to 81.5%, in which Merida and Morelia achieved the best recovery with 77.2% and 64.5%, respectively.

In that respect, beaches presented unequaled results once that the hotel occupancy rate in paradises such as Rivera Maya, Huatulco and Mazatlan obtained the 87.8%, 88.3% and 91.7%, correspondingly.

In accordance with the abovementioned, the dependence considered that the recovery of these amounts is an outstanding sign. (El Semanario Agencia, ESA)
