Mexico lose 5,000 bp on remittances in 2009: López Obrador

The politician from Tabasco request support to his movement in order to strengthen the presidential road towards 2012

During 2009, Mexico stop receiving about 5,000 billion dollars (bd) from remittances, amount equivalent to the annual budget of the program “Opportunities”, said Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, former candidate to Mexico’s presidency.

“Our compatriots, who leave the country for necessity can no longer send their families the same quantity of money”, mentioned Obrador.

The member of the Labor Party (PT) described as severe the economic situation in the country before the drop of 7% in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as well as the lack of employments generation and the loss of purchasing power of persons.

Obrador expressed that the economic crisis that is affecting Mexico could no longer extend, for which he called the members of his movement to redouble their efforts in order to create a real presidential movement for 2012.

The Mexican politician expressed that he is heading a movement for the transformation of Mexico that would strengthen the necessary safety measures to stop abuses. (El Semanario Agencia, ESA)
